Is this a legal Limousine Service:
Please be aware that some "companies" in the Dayton area are NOT a legal company. Anyone can purchase a limousine or bus and say they are a business, which does NOT mean that they are.

Does the company have legal commercial Limousine/bus Insurance:
Limousine/bus insurance is very expensive so not all "limousine services" in the Dayton area will pay for it. This is definitely something to ask them about when you inquire about limousine service.

Do they have the proper license plates:
Ask about "LIVERY" or "BUS" plates. The only way to have "LIVERY" or "BUS" plates is to have shown proper proof of commercial insurance to the state. No commercial insurance means no "LIVERY" or "BUS" plates. This also means that if the bus is involved in an accident there may be NO insurance coverage at all.

Do they have the proper inspections:
Limousines in Ohio are NOT required to go through a yearly safety inspection. Any BUS must go through a yearly Ohio State Bus inspection for safety by 5-31 of each year. If you are looking for a bus in the Dayton area make sure that the bus has the proper YELLOW state bus inspection sticker attached. YELLOW is the current color for 2010, ORANGE was for 2009, BLUE was for 2008 and is expired now. If the bus has a color other than YELLOW it is NOT legal and up to date.

Are the drivers properly licensed:
Any vehicle in the state of Ohio operating with 15 or more people in the passenger compartment requires a CDL driver with passenger endorsement. A standard operator license is Not legal to operate a vehicle rated for 15 or more people.

Is the company registered and in good standing with PUCO:
In the state of Ohio it is mandatory for any transportation service to be registered and in good standing with PUCO. PUCO is the authority that basically makes sure that a company has proper inspections, has filed the proper paperwork for running a business and has proper commercial insurances or the vehicles.
